The Scholarship Program was established in 2002 to provide aid to deserving parish students who require financial assistance to meet tuition at our SFDS School. Scholarships are awarded yearly by the Scholarship Committee, which includes the Parish Pastor, the School Principal and the President of the Finance Council.

In just the 5+ years we have been working for scholarship 57 families have received financial aid and 78 students have stayed in school. $252,000 has been raised and given to the school!

The Scholarship Program is funded through a combination of community
based events and programs which are organized and promoted by the
Scholarship Team:

Community Dinners - The annual Chili Dinner and Cook-Off Competition is held in the fall, and the annual St. Joseph’s Table /Spaghetti Dinner is held in the spring. Both dinners follow the 5:00 p.m. Family Mass. These evenings offer a unique opportunity to break bread with your fellow parishioners and school families, to meet new friends and to renew old acquaintances.

Our SFDS Golf Tournament is always a fun-filled, memorable day. If you
golf, be sure to attend. If you don’t golf, then join us for the dinner and festivities that follow. Volunteer some time to assist in the planning of the tournament or help us out on the day of the tournament. Date and details on this year’s event will follow.

The Book of Angels Program is a way to memorialize your loved one and benefit our students. Your loved one will be remembered yearly:
• In the SFDS Book of Angels, which contains a Memorial Page, on display in the Children’s Chapel during these special masses.
• From the altar, at the yearly SFDS All Saints Mass, and remembered in the Church bulletin and School Newsletter that week.
• At a special Student’s Mass during the annual Catholic Schools Week, held each year at the end of January. A school child will present a lit candle on the altar bearing your loved one’s name for presentation to the congregation, at which time the congregation is invited to offer their prayers.

The Scholarship Team is always looking for new members who want to get involved and make new friends, while helping a group of deserving children and building a stronger community within the Parish. We want you on OUR team!
